Routine questions regarding child care such as vomiting, colds, cough, diarrhea, fever, rash, sore throat, etc. can often be answered by our FAQ. Any pediatric telephone triage will be handled by our staff after 10 AM during office hours.
For life threatening emergencies ( severe choking, respiratory distress, fever in an infant younger than 90 days) , tell the caller to immediately call the emergency medical services (EMS) 911. This should be handled quickly by taking the child to the emergency room and inform the doctor so that she can communicate with the emergency physician to provide proper care of the child.

During off hours, page the doctor. Make sure to punch the number correctly so that the doctor can return the pager ASAP. If the doctor fails to return your call within 30 minutes please page her again. Sometimes the numbers are punched wrong and we see characters such as “@” instead of numbers , sometimes one or more digits missing, etc. Sometimes the doctor is in the midst of an emergency, such as attending high risk delivery or C SECTION, admitting/ attending premature or sick newborn in the NICU. |
